December 18, 1960
Sudbury, ON

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce Ronald (Ron) William McPhee's home going on December 28, 2024, in Sudbury, Ontario. Born in Sault Ste Marie and raised in Desbarats, Ontario, he spent his adult life in Northern Ontario, dedicating himself to God, his family, and his community.

Ron leaves behind a large loving family and a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Elizabeth (Bette) McPhee, his beloved son Sterling Charles McPhee (Jess Whalen), his cherished grandson, Reign Whalen McPhee, and his foster son, Joey Wayne Belanger. Ron was looking forward to the arrival of a cherished granddaughter to be born in March 2025. Ron will also be deeply missed by his mom, Marjorie McPhee (predeceased by his dad Jack McPhee), and his brother, Kim McPhee (Marla). Memories of Ron will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, sister and brothers-in-law, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Ron wore many hats throughout his life: Steel Worker, Pastor, Missionary, Fire Chaplain, Leader, Coach, and Direct Support Professional. A man of adventure, he found joy in traveling, cooking and barbecuing, and hosting gatherings with family, friends, and the community. Ron’s passions included spending time with his fur babies, riding his motorcycle, camping at Spring Bay Camp, yard sales, antiquing, and hanging out with family and friends. Ron had a big heart and opened his heart and home to everyone he met.

A proud Scotsman, Ron embraced his heritage, particularly his love for the history of the McPhee clan and the bagpipes. He was also a skilled carpenter, creating beautiful furniture and finding fulfillment in his craft. Ron was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed football, hockey, and NASCAR.

Above all, Ron was a devoted man of God, and he pursued his faith. Ron lived a life that reflected the love, mercy, and grace of Jesus. His commitment to studying and sharing God’s word transcended barriers, reaching from city streets to mission fields abroad. Ron exemplified the gifts of the Spirit, inspiring others through his actions, kindness, and unwavering belief.

Ron’s love for his family was immeasurable. He loved and adored his wife, Elizabeth (Bette), and together they created a lifetime of special memories. He was so proud of Sterling and Jess and the life and family they are creating together. He immensely enjoyed his time as a loving Poppi to Reign, the joy and light of his life. Ron’s legacy of love for God, family, friends, and community will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of getting to know him. Ron, we will miss you and look forward to reuniting again “high on the mountain!”

Visitation will be held at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will take place at the North Edge Church (formerly New Sudbury Pentecostal Church), 264 Levesque St., Sudbury on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ron’s memory to a trust fund for his grandson, Reign Whalen McPhee.
