It is with profound sadness that the family of Earl McMillan must announce his passing at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice with his loving family by his side. Earl was the devoted and loving husband of his “smiley” Bernice for 67 years. Left behind to mourn his loss are his children Bill (Sandra), Chuck (Donna), Daisy Nedeau (Cecil), Clark (Terri), Earlyn Kudlac (Paul) and is predeceased by his son, the late Harry. He was the proud Papa of 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren that will all miss him dearly. Earl will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was born and is predeceased by his parents, Frances and Clarence McMillan. Dear brother of his brother, Bernard (Lynda) of London, Ontario and his sister, Betty Conte (Dan) of Hamilton, Ontario. Predeceased by his siblings, Roger (Vera), Jack, Jim (Arlie), Lorne (Janet), Gerry (Lynette), Glen (Lila) and Barbara Leveille (Gary).

Earl was always a very hard-working man who took pride in whatever he did. He loved driving his logging truck and did not handle retirement well at the young age of 80! His work ethic was bar none which was instilled in his children and grandchildren. Earl was always willing to help anyone in need, day or night, without hesitation.  He always had a smile, a handshake or a hug when he greeted you. If he loved you, you knew it. He enjoyed sharing stories about his past and especially enjoyed sharing his humour and making people laugh.

His strong sense of family resonates through every member of our family. It was what mattered most to him. Earl made a huge impact on so many lives and will be deeply missed until we meet again.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who cared for Earl, especially the staff at the Sault Area Hospital on 3B and to the staff at ARCH. We are forever grateful.

The family wishes to invite you to Earl’s Celebration of Life which will take place on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at 2pm at 1592 Hwy 552, Goulais River, Ontario.

If tomorrow starts without me,

and I’m not here to see,

If the sun should rise and find your eyes

all filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry

the way you did today,

While thinking of the many things

we didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me,

as much as I love you

And each time that you think of me,

I know you’ll miss me too.

So when tomorrow starts without me

Don’t think we’re far apart

For every time you think of me,

I am right here in your heart.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to ARCH or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Cremation entrusted through O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St. James Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, P6A 1P7, 7059-759-8456, www.osullivanfuneralhome.com).
