Peacefully at Maple View, with her family by her side on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the age of 81.

Beloved wife of Danniel Keith McKay. Loving mother of Lorie Gill (Dean) and Mike McKay (Judy). Much loved sister of Linda Reid (Jim), Susan Kennedy (Les) and Jim Hernden (late Ursula). Cherished aunt to Heather, Brian, Danny and David Reid, Jill and Greg Kennedy, Stefanie and Jamie Hernden. Predeceased by her parents Mack and Rossie Hernden and her favorite aunt, Kay Gardner.

Judy had a 30+ year career in the Engineering Department at Bell Canada. She was a meticulous homemaker and enjoyed team darts and bowling in her younger years.  She loved to travel and always had her suitcase on standby. Judy had a great sense of humor and had a quick wit right up to the end. She spent her retirement years with Danny in Arizona and never tired of the desert landscape.

Special thanks to Kathy Glemnitz for a lifetime of friendship and to her niece Jill for her devotion and companionship through Judy’s final days. Jill referred to Judy as her “rich aunt” because as a child Aunt Judy always had microwave popcorn. The family would also like to thank the Maple View, Twin Lakes staff for the care and compassion shown to us all during Judy's end of life journey. You were angels.

A Letter From Heaven: When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not here to see. If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me.  I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.  I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.

Cremation has taken place, celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522).

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the McKay family.
