MCCUTCHEON, Richard 'Dick' Paul Wesley

Born June 5th, 1938 London, Ontario. Passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Sault Area Hospital in his 81st year.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Gertrude Ann McCutcheon (nee Sheridan). Survived by his loving sons Richard Andrew McCutcheon (Jennifer Jill) and Robert Craig McCutcheon (Cynthia Rose). Proud grandfather of Marissa Mercedes, Keely Alexis, Matthew Timothy Quentin, Regan Ann Naagweyaab and Finn Patrick McCutcheon. Dear brother of Kathleen Crowe (Cliff), Margaret Fletcher (Robert), the late Valerie McCutcheon, Thomas McCutcheon (Sharron), and William McCutcheon (Miriam).

Richard was a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, where he majored in Urban Geography. He moved to Sault Ste. Marie in 1971 to work at Algoma University. He began as a geography professor and went on to serve in the role of University Registrar for many years.

He will be remembered for his many association activities, and pastimes in Sault Ste. Marie for years including Voyageur Trail Surveyor, Algoma Fall Festival Director, Algoma Festival Choir Singer, a long-standing member of the Algoma Lodge - Masonic Temple.

Some of Dad's favourite hobbies included a love of gardening for many years and a love of photography that came in handy on many many family vacations. In his middle years he was a squash player, cross country skier, and enjoyed making beer at home with some close friends. He loved to travel the world but his favorite place to be was in Ireland as he had a strong interest in genealogy.

A memorial service for Richard will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque) to Camp MacDougall or the Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
