Passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Livita Parkway Retirement Residence in Pickering, Ontario at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Harry R. McCarty. Loving mother of three sons – Lynn Scott (Julie), Kevin Bruce (Susie), and John Franklin (Kathy). Grandmother to Ian & Amy, Shannon, Sarah & Katie, and Robert, Adrienne & Steven. Great grandmother to Jackson, Liam, Maksim, and Franklin. Predeceased by her elder siblings Una Burnett, Frank and Albert Diboll, Pearl Arbour, and Joyce Ross. She was always busy, attending to her ever-growing family, quilting, crocheting, and knitting in what passed for spare time, gardening both in the Soo and at Richards Landing, as well decades of volunteer and fund raising activities at the East Korah Maxwell United Church, Meals on Wheels, and others.
As per her request, and the limitations of COVID, no service or reception is currently planned, other than a private interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Jocelyn, St. Joseph Island. Any charitable donations in memory of Doreen may be sent directly to the St. Joseph Island Museum, the Matthews Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Richards Landing, or the Richards Landing Children’s Library that was her childhood oasis.
