Heaven got an angel today, we lost a wonderful Mom and friend. She passed away peacefully at Algoma Residential Community Hospice with her family by her side on Friday, October 14, 2022 in her 78th year after a long-fought battle with cancer.

Loving, devoted wife and best friend of Chum for 53 years. Loving mother of Christine (Tammy) and Charles Jr. Proud Gramma of MacKenzie and her grand-fur babies Cooper and Jessie, who she played and snuggled with. Beloved daughter of the late Edna and Enoch Johnson. She will be sadly missed by her siblings Shirley Corbett (late Clifford), Marlene Stevenson (late Bob), George, Winston (Anola), Dorothy Bain (Ron), Marie Senko (late Walter), Darlene MacKenzie and Norman (Shirley). Gloria will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom loved her family dearly and was always there for us. Before Covid, she loved her every Friday lunch/coffee date with her sisters and brothers at their "reserved Johnson" table at Tim Hortons and her up to twice a week bingo night with her sister Dorothy. She loved being at camp in Havilland, going for rides in the side-by-side and fishing with the girls and even went sailing with her son. She enjoyed just sitting on the deck on her swing, knitting and visiting with the Hermistons next door. She is one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank all the staff and doctors at the Sault Area Hospital involved in her care. A very special thank you to Lee Marcoux and Gloria's sisters Marie and Marlene for helping when needed. A special thank you to the staff and nurses at ARCH, although it was a very short stay, they made my Mom and us feel very comfortable.

At Gloria's request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to ARCH would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the McBride family.
