Peacefully at home on Sunday, August 20th, 2023 at the age of 86, after a long & courageous battle with cancer, Bud went to his eternal rest.

Beloved husband and soul mate of Doreen and the late Dorothy. Loved father of Michael (Tammy), Marian Hyndman (Dan) and Bill (Laurie). Step-father to the late David Lachowich, Dan (Jenn) and Debbie (Rainer).

Loving Gigi to Tara , Brad, Connor, Stephen, Jessica, Nathan, Sarah, Taylor, Emily, Riley and Griffin and Great Gigi to 11. Son of the late Aileen and brother of Lorna Lessard (Barry), the late Gary (Nancy) and Sheila. Bud also leaves behind extended family and close friends in Sault Ste. Marie, St. Joseph Island and in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he and Doreen spent many winters.

Bud was a man of considerable talents, a diverse background and many interests. He was employed, among other things, as a teacher, welder, sheet metal worker and building inspector; enjoyed working with machines of all kinds and wood working. He excelled at the game of Crib and at horseshoes. It seemed there was nothing Bud couldn’t do and no fact or event he couldn’t recall in detail. His greatest passions were a good game of golf, a successful fishing trip, and hunting with his brother and later his sons.

Special thanks to Dr. Rassouli, Dr. Lam and staff in the SAH Cancer Unit, Dr. Karen Booth, Dr. Janet McLeod and her wonderful PSW staff; especially Kim, who went above and beyond. Heartfelt thanks to nurses Amy and Jessica, who provided assistance and friendship to Bud and Doreen over the last couple of years. We hope memories of your time spent with Bud and his sometimes off-coloured jokes, always bring you a laugh.

At Bud’s request there will be no funeral service. Bud’s ashes will be scattered at some of his favourite places, where we will raise a glass and share memories. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. - 705-759-2522).  Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com obituaries section to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
