It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our deeply loved father and grandfather Allan Albert Matthews on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the age of 84 at the Sault Area Hospital.
In his final days he was blessed to be surrounded by his family and dear friends.
In his final hours he was surrounded by his loving children Shelley, Barry and Robbie.
He was married at the young age of 18 and sadly predeceased by his wife Carol Matthews (nee Merrick) in 2003.
Father of Shelley Matthews LeVasseur (Andre LeVasseur), Barry (Debra) and Robbie (Heather Kirby Matthews). Grandfather of Alexandra Calhoun, Matthew Calhoun and Carley Matthews. Step-grandfather of Marc LeVasseur, Nicholas LeVasseur, Nathaniel Clement and Joshua Kirby. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret Matthews and brother Bob Matthews. Brother of Malcolm "Mac", Shirley Richardson (Bill), Harvey and Judy Bruzas. His memory lives on in many nieces and nephews and his lifelong friends.
He was a fiercely loyal man true and honest character. He shared his immense knowledge and willingness to help others with eagerness and pride. Throughout his life he shared his love of fishing and the outdoors with his family and friends, which now allows the beautiful memories we have to cherish.
It is with our humbled gratitude and thanks to all of the medical professionals on 3C and the E.R. at the Sault Area Hospital. Your caring beautiful souls, your empathy and your unmatched medical care gave our family strength.
As we all say our goodbyes to the truly Greatest man of all time may his undaunting spirit live on in everyone he has touched.
