Aug. 2, 1936 – Sept. 29, 2024

Terry Marcoux passed away at Sault Area Hospital on Sept. 29, at the age of 88. She is predeceased by her parents, Concetta (Traveson) and Joseph Gasparelli. Loving wife for 67 years of the late William (Bill) Marcoux.

Cherished mother of Debbie MacLean, (Rob), Karen Marcoux, Bill Marcoux Jr., (Lee). Adored grandmother of Kyle (Rachel), Cody (Jamie), Montana (Fed), Sydney (Kyle), B.J. (Ellen), Mac (Dina), and Avery (Liam). Proud great-grandmother to Brady, Tanner, Ryder, Alexa, and Abby.

Sister of the late Norma Werner (Wolfe), and Anna DiPietro (Joe). Loving Aunt of her many nieces and nephews.

Terry dedicated her career working at the Land Registry Office in Sault Ste. Marie where she formed countless connections and was always eager to lend a helping hand. There was a running joke that Terry, due to her excellent investigative techniques, was part of the “Italian Mafia.” If she didn’t know who you were and was curious, by four o’clock the next afternoon she’d know who you were, who your parents were, where you lived, where you worked, where your parents worked, who your grandparents were, what boat your ancestors arrived on, and anything else she felt was pertinent. Often, this newfound information would find its way to the right person, perhaps to the mother of a son with a potential girlfriend, or someone else in need of such details.

Terry and Bill were privileged to have a great circle of friends throughout their lives. Their love for travel took them on countless adventures across Canada, the USA, and Mexico. Terry found joy in good music, dancing, crocheting, bowling trips with her favorite girls, and of course, entertaining. Her family was her greatest pride. Terry loved to host dinners and true to her Italian culture, always ensured that no one left her table hungry – you ate, even if you were full! Terry also spent countless years attending Soo Greyhound Hockey Games. She was a staple at the ‘Hound Pound’, selling Greyhound memorabilia with her best friend, the late Joyce Elliott. Additionally, Terry volunteered at Sault Area Hospital selling 50/50 tickets and assisting the Foundation with various events.

Terry’s infectious smile and laugh lit up every room she entered. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A private cremation service has taken place with immediate family.

Family and friends are invited to a ‘Come and Go Celebration of Terry’s Life’ on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 4-6 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 located at 96 Great Northern Road in Sault Ste. Marie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, or ARCH Hospice.  Payable by cheque.
