October 3, 1928 to March 13, 2020 - Irene passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 with her husband Andy by her side. Gone to be with her daughter Joanne Mantha-McConnell, her mother Justina, father John and brother Alec Holunga. Survived by her husband of 66 years Andre (Andy), sons Mark (Kathleen) and John (Leanne). Proud grandmother to Laura and Justin McConnell, Claire and Bradley Mantha, and Lauren Galeana. Mother-in-law to Don McConnell. Irene was an avid supporter and volunteer of the Art Gallery of Algoma for 30 years. She lived on Moluch St. in Sault Ste. Marie for 60+ years with a very tight-knit and loving neighborhood.
Funeral mass to be celebrated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 11 am. Rev. Paul Conway officiating.
