It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandpa Fernando at the age of 85 years old on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Sault Area Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was a devoted husband of Triestina (nee Bernardo) for 56 years. Together they created a beautiful family and were blessed with 3 sons, Fern (Rita), Tullio (Elizabeth) and Mike. He was the proud grandpa of 6 grandchildren, Lauren Culina (Mike), Anthony (Kayleigh Tucker), Brooke, Hope, Jade and Jordi.
Fernando was born on May 11, 1939 in Serra D’Aiello Cosenza Calabria Italy to Michele and Maria Mannarino (nee Fascetti). Fernando immigrated to Canada at the age of 17 and worked as a crane operator at Algoma Steel until he retired in 1997. He was an avid fan of boxing and soccer which he enjoyed immensely.
He was the brother of the late Francesco (Ingeborg), late Annarosa, the late Aldo (Ida), Alesandro (Aurelia), and Tullio (Carmen). He was the brother-in-law of Carmela Lepore (Tony), Rosaria Coccimiglio (late Battista), late Mario, late Salvatore (late Ernestina), late Giovanni (late Gilda), late Francesco (Maria), late Nicola (late Yolanda) and late Antonio (Ernestina).
Fernando will be sadly missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and Germany.
Special thanks to Dr Karen Booth, Dr Sharon Buehner, Dr Aziz and Dr Opryszczko. The family would also like to thank the caring and compassionate nurses and staff on 3C at SAH for their exceptional care.
As per Fernando’s wishes a private service was held at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522). Rev. Alex Saurianthadathil officiated. Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the Parkinson Society of Canada or Sault Area Hospital Foundation are greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Mannarino family.
