June 25, 1928 – December 12, 2023
Kenneth passed away quietly with family by his side, at the Algoma Manor, age 95. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 69 years, Sheila, who passed away 11 months prior. There is relief that his grief is now at an end. Cherished father of Richard (Lise), David (Kim), Roxie Demers (Marc) and Vivian Aschwanden (Bernard). Adored grandfather of Brian Maeck (Claudia), Leah Kirby (Chris), Michael Maeck (José), Ryan Maeck (Andrea), Jeffrey Maeck (Michelle), Nathan Gilmour (Kayla), Rowan Cole (Cayden) and Noah Viitala as well as great grandfather of Isaac, Ben, Jacob and Timmy Kirby, Yasmine and Emilia Maeck, Cassie and Aubrey Maeck, Ava and Mia Maeck, Quinn Maeck and Addie Cole. Predeceased by his parents Elise and John Maeck as well as his 9 beloved siblings. Kenneth will be forever remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends from across Ontario.
Kenneth was a creative person and very skilled with his hands. He enjoyed building things, especially using stone and wood. He continued to hone these skills over his lifetime and became a very competent craftsman. In his 40’s Kenneth went back to school and became a licensed auto mechanic, which complemented the service station in Nairn Centre that he and Sheila owned. He was a gifted and accomplished musician and played many instruments such as the guitar, piano, banjo, mandolin, violin and harmonica. He came from a large family and his fondest memories were playing music alongside family and friends and growing up on the farm in the Sundridge area. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, instilling his love of music in them. Kenneth was known for being a kind and ethical man. He will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Algoma Manor for the wonderful care given to our father over the past 7 plus years.
