It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Norman MacMillan on August 26, 2023, in Blind River, Ontario following a lengthy illness. Norman was born on October 15, 1952, in Blind River, Ontario.  Norman is survived by his beloved wife Christine (nee Gerner) and loving children Melinda (McLeod) and husband Rob and Jason and his partner Val.  Norman is predeceased in death by his parents John and Marie MacMillan and his brother John. He was loved as a son-in-law by the late Donald and late Marie Gerner.

Survived by his admiring grandchildren Ashlyn and Jaylyn King, Kyra, Brianna, Isaac, Olivia and Jayden MacMillan as well as step-grandfather to Alyssia and Robert Giesler.

Norman will be greatly missed by his surviving brothers Marlon, Brian and Harold as well as his admiring sisters Lynda, Sandra, Brenda and Maxine.

Norman lived a full and complete life in Blind River and worked primarily as a gold miner.  An avid lover of the outdoors you could often see Norman hunting or fishing in the wilderness around Blind River and area.  Norman and his late brother John would navigate the hills and curves in northern Ontario and beyond on their Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Some would say that Norman was out of the ordinary and definitely one of a kind which is the way he would want to be remembered.  Always wearing his heart on his sleeve, it was impossible to be unclear about where Norman stood on any given subject.  Norman’s unquestionable character and personality is only reflected by the abundance of friends and acquaintances that sought to adorn his presence.

Norm’s appreciation for music varied from the early days of rock and roll music of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show to the adrenaline rush of attending concerts of the likes of George Jones, The Who, Cher and others. One of Norm’s finer talents was the art of photography, often capturing scenes that are often taken for granted by others.

Celebration of Life Memorial will take place at the Blind River Legion Branch 189, 27 Hawkins Street, Blind River on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023, from 1pm to 4pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend and greet the family with your expression of condolence.
