MACMILLAN, Gordon Victor

Posted

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Victor MacMillan in his 60th year, peacefully with his wife by his side at the Sault Area Hospital (General Site) on Friday, July 29, 2005. Loving husband, partner and best friend of Margaret for 38 years. Dearest father of Tracey Romano (Bruno) and Marnie Frees (Sheldon). Very proud grandpa and #1 fan of Nicholas, Bruno Jr. and beautiful little Julia Romano. Very special Poppy of precious little Brandon Frees. They will truly miss him. Son of the late Harold and Laura. Brother of Gerry (Gayle), Keith (Lois), Patty (Joey) and predeceased by June Simonini, Donald, Graydon, Melvin and Bill. Son in law of the late Donald and Jeanette Mitchell. Brother in law of Jim Mitchell (Eileen), late Robert Mitchell (Pat), Gloria Chaimbrone (late Michael), Shirley Fecteau (Claude), Mary Mitchell, Lelia Koskenoja (Harry), Terry Mitchell (Donna). Gordon will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Gordon was a very quiet, gentle man with his very own unique sense of humour. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He tried very hard not to miss any of their ever so exciting hockey and soccer games. He would always look forward to his hunting trips on Cockburn Island and his fishing trips with his great and special friends. He also enjoyed time reminiscing and swapping cooking recipes over a tall cool one with his special buds at the Esquire Club. Gordon was very blessed to have such special friends; Gus, Jimmy, Kenny, Gary and his brother in law Terry and Donna and my friend Nancy for whose visits and phone calls while he was sick always made his day. They are truly what friends are all about. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 from 11 am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1 pm. Rev. Jim Moffatt officiating. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
In tears I saw you sinking
I watched you fade away
My heart was almost broken
You fought so hard to stay
But when I saw you sleeping
So peacefully free from pain
I could not wish you back Gord
To suffer that again
To live in the hearts of those we leave
Is not to die.
