November 7,1949 – August 22, 2020 passed away at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Saturday, August 22, 2020. Beloved husband of Susan Mackan for 26 years. Cherished stepfather of Lee Vassiliadis and Angela Oldfield (Brian). Loving Papa of Nelia, Alicitee and Branson. Preceased by his parents James and Mary Mackan. Eldest brother to Brian, Mike, Dave (Kerry), Phil (Pam), Pat, Francis (Aimee), Karen Berto (Larry), Shelley Buzanko (late Bill) and Maureen Montanini (Paul). Jim is survived by his children Lenny and Wendy who he shared with his former spouse Marcy. He will be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and friends.
Friends may visit at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522) on Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 10:30 am until 11:30 am (maximum 40 people at a time; masks required). A private funeral service by invite will be held at 12 pm. Memorial contributions to ARCH (payable by cheque or online would be appreciated). A most heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at ARCH who kept my husband comfortable and myself sane and fed through all of those heartbreaking days. My special thanks to all the wonderful nurses from Paramed who took care of Jim at home prior to going into ARCH especially his primary nurse Holly. Thank you so much to Dr. Karen Booth for your care and compassion always and to Jim’s ‘dream team’ of doctors who all had a hand in Jim’s journey.
