Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday July 4, 2024 at the age of 93.
Loving husband of Margaret "Ann" Corris. Predeceased by his late wife Joan MacDougall. Cherished father of Ellen MacDougall (Jenny) and the late Karen Johns (Kevin). Proud grandfather of Elizabeth (Ken) and Rhiannon (Zach). Great grandfather of Elianna and Coralynn. Son of the late Stuart and Leona MacDougall. Brother of the late Stuart (late Jean), late Roddy (late Merla) and Ken.
Doug worked for 30 years in the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department, he completed the final years in his career as the Training Officer. As he did in his working years, he spent his retirement travelling remote areas of the world by land and sea, really enjoying the South Pacific area. No matter where Doug travelled in the world he would always come home to Batchawana Bay where his heart truly was. He cherished his time travelling Lake Superior in any of his many boats, to the various Islands and locations in the area.
Family and friends are welcome to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522) on Wednesday July 10, 2024 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm service to follow at 2:15 pm burial to take place at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Sault Ste. Marie Public Library or Westminster Presbyterian Church can be made in Doug's honour.
