April 28, 1935-September 3, 2024

We sure lost a good one this week…Jim was loved by everyone.

Husband of the late Lila (nee Bethune) whom he loved to his last day. Proud Father of Michael Luxton, Aileen Adams (Gord) and Penny Luxton (Ronnie). Adoring Grandfather of Alyssa Egan (Greg), Delaney Adams, Cierra and Jacob Luxton and Great Grandfather of Isla Egan, the late Nashton Boivin and Sienna Egan.

Loving son of the late Dallas Ambrose and Leticia Luxton. Predeceased by his sister Patricia Wilson, and his brothers, Bill (late Anne), Bob, Ted and Dick Luxton. He will miss his weekly lunch with his brothers Peter Luxton (Lucy) and Gerry Luxton where he considered himself a referee. Son-in-law of the late Lyle and Katherine Bethune. Brother-in-law to the late Pat (late Joe), Randy (late Hazel) and Cookie (late Bill). He was a loved Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews - even as adults they each considered themselves his favourite. He had a special bond with his niece Kelly and her husband Don Ryan and their Spruce Lake family. His trips to their camp brought many memories and much joy to his life. Special thanks to Margaret Luxton for supporting Jim in some of his latest health challenges.

Jim was a very involved and present figure in his grandchildren’s lives from when they were born, often watching them and bringing them anywhere they needed. He became quite a master of Facebook and messenger and had many family that he messaged Good Morning and Good Night to daily.

He loved the outdoors - from his bush camp on Ranger Lake Road to fun times at Trout Lake with Penny and friends. Jim was a master storyteller with a sharp memory that loved to share stories from throughout his life. He was a proud member of the Beaver Club, who are probably raising a glass with him as we speak. Dad was also an employee of Algoma Steel for 40 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of a charitable donation, please think of Jim’s favourite motto:

There’s so much bad in the best of us
And so much good in the worst of us
It hardly behooves any of us
To speak ill of the rest of us
