It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Jonathan James (JJ) Loan on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the age of 50. He left us far too soon, but not before leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love that will forever warm our hearts.

JJ was known for his boundless sense of humor and infectious laughter. Whether telling a joke that made everyone double over with laughter or sharing a playful quip that brightened even the darkest days, he had an uncanny ability to make life's moments a little lighter and a lot more fun.

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Fiona Ryan Loan, who was the light of his life, and his loving partner, Megan Ryan, who shared in his joy and humor every day. Together, they will carry forward the spirit and laughter that JJ so generously shared with everyone around him.

JJ was the beloved son of Ruth & Jaime Smith, Brydon Jeremy Loan, and the late Marilyn Loan. He was the loving brother to Becky (Travis), Jenn, Amanda, Laura (Jason), and Darrin. JJ will be sadly missed by his nieces Eila, Ciara (Matt), Molly, Emily, Semiah, and Scarlett as well as his nephews Riley, Noah, Jackson, Grayson, Montana, Niko, and Sebastian as well as his extended family and friends.

He will also be greatly missed by his father-in-law Mike, mother-in-law Cindy (Jerremy), and sister-in-law Melissa (Ryan).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Fiona Ryan Loan’s Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). For more information on how to contribute, please email [email protected].

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honour and remember JJ.

Jonathan James Loan will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his infectious laughter continue to echo in our hearts and remind us to find joy in every moment.
