Passed suddenly but peacefully with family by her side at Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Born in Helsinki Finland on Dec. 17, 1944.  Raised by Heino Mustonen and Irma Salovaara.  After her mother passed also raised by stepmother Marjatta Mustonen. Loving wife of Glenn for almost 50 years.  Devoted mother to Frank (Tina) and Anneli (Jorge Sousa).  Cherished Grandmother to Gabriel and Sarah Sousa, Kaitlyn (Justin) and Kayla Planting.  Grandma Cindy to Preston, Karsen, and Leylann Planting.  She was a special Co-Grandma and best friend to Rosa Sousa of Portugal. Sister to Jarmo Mustonen (Hilda).  Sister in law to Randy and Sally Lillie, Linell Lillie and Donald Scott.  Special aunt to Mikayla (Thomas) and Ryan Scott.

Cindy was overjoyed in her life to be a Mother and Grandmother.  She spent many happy years with friends and family at Manitowik Lake where she fished, enjoyed the sauna, a frozen marguerita and even befriended the eagles. She lived life to the absolute fullest and did everything a good life entails travelling, dinners with friends, holidays spent with family and most of all loving her family completely and unconditionally. She had a mission and lesson to teach others in this world about patience, kindness, compassion and the lost art of listening, of which she was a Master. Despite having early extreme hardship not a cell in her body had self pity, anger, resentment and you would never hear her complain, ever. She was a spiritual person who loved the divine in all its forms, as the Creator, the Buddhas, God, Nature and especially the Angels. She went out at the very top of her game having recently seen many friends and family including her brother Jarmo, she took one last snowshoe around the loop and finally beat her son in scrabble.  In the face of this incredible loss she wants you to be joyful and happy and to transform the grief into perfect love in your heart.

A private family funeral has been held.  A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East).  Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Lillie family.
