It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Murvin Thomas Lidstone (Merv), at the age of 79, he passed away on July 16, 2024, at the Montreal University Hospital Centre.

Beloved husband of Agnes for 53 years. Dear father of Caroline Lidstone-Jones (Peter) and Sonia Lidstone-Drodge (Dwayne). Proud grandfather of Kaleb and Sierra Lidstone-Drodge, Tristan Jones and fur babies Bentley, Jackie and Nova.

Son of the late Willard and Mary Ann Lidstone (Kay). Brother of Edwin (Ted) Lidstone (Marlene) and Oliver Lidstone (Anne) and brother to the late June Bamagesic, Clifford, Donelda, Marie, Arthur, and Lenard Lidstone. Brother-in-law to the late Anna James (late Donald), late Olaf Bjornaa (Lolene), late Duane Bjornaa (Joanne), Carolyn Ainslie (late Ron), Andy Clark (Cathy), late Allan Bjornaa (Cindy), Krista Bjornaa (Dave) and Jean Lidstone. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

His greatest accomplishments were being a husband, a father and a grandfather. Agnes and Murv had an unbreakable bond from the moment they met and knew they were soulmates for an eternity. Together they shared a lifetime of memories, love and laughter. As a father he took great pride in raising his two daughters to be strong women which he was very proud of right until the very end. As a proud grandfather his grandchildren will forever be grateful for the life lessons and love their grandpa has given them.

He was a man of little words who will be remembered for his kindness, his gentle heart and caring ways. Above all he will be forever known for his sense of humour and his quick wit.

He will be deeply missed by the love of his life and best friend Agnes, his daughters, his grandchildren and the many people he knew.

A private service will be held at O'Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre for immediate family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 26th, 2024, between 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Rankin Arena – upstairs in the Thunderbird Room (17 Batchewana Street, Rankin Reserve). We will be gathering to share some of our favourite memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful husband, father and friend who will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you make a donation (payable online or by cheque) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation
