1941-2024
On June 14, 2024, John left us to join his Saviour after a long battle with dementia. He never lost his love nor his faith in his Creator. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Lewis, son Paul Chartrand, his father and mother Harry and Edith Lewis of Forest, ON and two brothers: Deryck Lewis of Sarnia ON and Keith Lewis of Forest ON. He is survived by his children: Debbie Ross, Denise (Rick) Giroux, Teresa Lewis all of Sault Ste Marie, ON; his sons: David (Michelle) Chartrand, and Denis Chartrand both of BC. He will be sadly missed by his nine grandchildren: Adam, Laurieanne, Edward (Carrie), Anthony (Laura), Mellissa (Michael), Christopher, Tia (Jordan), Andrew and Paige. John will also be missed by his nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brothers: Tom (Edna) Lewis of London ON, and Terry (Charlotte) Lewis of Bakersfield ON.
The family wish to thank the staff of Sunridge for their care of 11 years. Thank you is a very mundane word and does not express our heartfelt gratitude.
A small service for close friends and family will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Sault Ste. Marie from 4:00 - 6:00pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at O’Sullivan Funeral Home, 215 St. James Street, Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Interment Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
