September 17, 1939 to December 18, 2020. - It is with profound sadness that my brother and I announce the peaceful passing of our father at Sault Area Hospital on Friday, December 18, 2020.

Dad is now reunited with his devoted and always very patient wife Juanita (2012) and his vocal 4-legged companion Ruby (2020).  In his 81 years Lee was many things, son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, father and father-in-law but perhaps his most cherished title was Papa to his 3 grandchildren. His family was the most important thing to him and he cherished us with his whole heart.

Dad was born in Waboose, Ontario to Benjamin and Louise Legault (nee; Tessier), and predeceased by his Sister Carol and an infant brother. They moved to Searchmont where he had so many happy memories of time spent with his cousins Keith, Raymond, Clyde, Gloria and Albert. He then decided to join the military and choosing the RCAF as his post. As he was doing some training in Montreal in 1965 he met our mother and 7 months later they eloped at 1:30AM!! They were a formidable team till her death in 2012. 2 children, 21 years and many posts later, a Cold War Veteran he decided to retire from the military and come back home to Sault Ste. Marie. He started a new career with Great Lakes Power and he and our Mom along with us kids enjoyed many years camping at various spots and meeting some incredible people.

Anyone who met our Dad knew his sense of humour, big heart and love of his family. He was a gentleman to the end and for that we are all thankful.

He is survived by his children, Duana (Andy Bos) and Dylan (Kelly), his grandchildren Rory-Lee Bos and Julien and Kaylee Legault. Also many cousins and dear friends including Sheila Major and Diane and Jerry Boyer.

The last few years Dad lived at Collegiate Heights and made many friends and had a great impact on the staff. We would like to thank James, Christine, Melissa, Mirella, Tamara, Taylor, Dominique and Nicole with a very special shout out to Nicole’s girls R&Z who made his Saturday’s extra special. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention his very special friendship with Abbie Vaes.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Kobelka and Sarah at the GHC for their many years of caring for Lee, Dr’s Fera, Apostle, Alex and Buehner and all the amazing nurses of 3C who cared for him in his last weeks but a special shout out to Carley, you are amazing. We would also like to thank Elaine Pitcher for her kindness.

Donations are welcome to the Sault Ste. Marie Canadian Legion Branch 25 as he was a proud 50 year member or the SAH Foundation but even more importantly, tell someone an inappropriate joke, he would like that!

A memorial service will take place in the spring.

...he has kept his promises and earned his sleep...till we meet again ❤️LEGAULT, Leland - Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E.  705-759-2522).
