August 12, 1955 – January 14, 2025

With deepest sadness we announce the passing of a dear husband, dad and Papa at the age of 69, surrounded by his family at the Sault Area Hospital. Loving husband of Linda (nee Loughran) for 48 years. Devoted dad and best friend of Corie (Pam) and Jamie (Kristen). Proud Papa of Trista, Blake, Max and Macy. Loving and caring brother of Merlyn (Claude), Ben (Marney), Judy (Jim) and the late Billy. More than a brother-in-law to the late Brenda, Maxwell “Jr” (Monica), the late Ronnie and Mary Ann (Marvin). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, his after work garage friends and his loving little dog Lucie.

Sam worked hard everyday for 32 years at Ontario Hydro. He was known in the community for volunteering for Thessalon Fire Department and Thessalon Minor Hockey.

His family came first. He was a “Mr. Fix It” for his grandchildren and if Papa couldn’t fix it, nobody could.

He loved fishing, hunting, ATV rides and camping at the trailer with his beloved wife Linda and family. He always enjoyed working with others on their projects, from carpentry to mechanics, he had all the tools.

Sam could be found in his garage during retirement enjoying social time with friends. His door was always open, and his fridge was mostly full (sometimes).

Although he was stolen from us, his outlook on life remained strong and positive. He had a smile on his face and his character and pride remained.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Sault Area Hospital for the compassion and care shown to Sam and his family during the final weeks of his struggle.

A celebration of Sam’s life will be announced at a later date.
