Surrounded by family, peacefully passed away Tuesday October 29th at St Joseph's Hospital in Elliot Lake, Ontario at the age of 84. Loving son of the late Brigitte Lafontaine (nee Lunam) and the late Mathias Lafontaine.

Ron will sadly be missed by his sister and caregiver Nicole Lafontaine of Elliot Lake. Sisters Marie-Anne Lafontaine, Claire Lemieux from Sturgeon Falls and his brother Jean-Guy (Lise) Lafontaine of Elliot Lake.

He is predeceased by his brothers Donald (Sandra) of St Catherine, Gerry (Carole) of Barrie and by his sisters Colette, Huguette (late Jean Claude) and Lisette (late Raynald).

He will be sadly missed by so many nieces and nephews and so many friends. Born in Quebec, but moved to Ontario at a very early age with his family where he spent most of his life. Ron's passion was to fish and the outdoors. In the last four years of his life he made crafts truly made from the heart and gifted them daily to his friends and family. In his early days he was a skier and a strong swimmer and won competitions. He always put all his heart and effort in all he did,and had a way of coloring our lives. The family would love to thank Huron Lodge and all the staff for showing Ron love, kindness and care. A big thank you for the kindness to all the nurses and doctors at St.Joseph's Hospital. A special thank you to the Funeral Director Josianne for all her help and kindness. Now we leave you with a special message from Ron.

If someone should ask for me
tell'em heaven is where i'll be.
I've done all my chores ,
So now I fish on heaven's shores.

The fishing is great and I saved a spot
Right next to me on the river's bend
For all those I call family and friends.
If you're sad because it's me you're missin,
Smile, Be Happy . I'm only GONE FISHING.
P.S. Make your next cast in my memory.

At the request of the family a cremation has taken place and a private gathering with family and friends will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke and Huron Lodge Elliot Lake would be appreciated.
