It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fr. Tadeusz Kowalczyk, CSMA, who departed this life on 20th of December 2024, at the age of 91, in the Michaelite Fathers’ residence in Melrose, Canada.
Fr. Kowalczyk was born on June 3, 1933, in Zabrodzie, near Ostrołęka, Poland. Answering God’s call early in life, he joined the Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel in Miejsce Piastowe in 1952. Over the years, he served his Congregation with devotion, taking on various roles and enduring personal health challenges with faith and perseverance.
After completing his studies, Fr. Tadeusz was ordained to the priesthood in 1966. He ministered in Poland before moving to North America, where he spent over five decades serving communities in Canada. Known for his compassion and humility, Fr. Kowalczyk dedicated many years to chaplaincy in hospitals and pastoral care in Polish parishes across Hamilton, London, Windsor, Sarnia, Salut Ste Marie, and beyond.
Fr. Tadeusz spent the final chapter of his ministry in Religious House in Melrose, where he continued to serve the faithful and assist at Our Lady of Częstochowa Parish in London.
A life of unwavering faith, tireless service, and deep commitment to the Church, Fr. Kowalczyk will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and dedication to God and His people.
May he rest in peace. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Michaelite Fathers Missions in Zambia.
