(April 8,1938 - October 6, 2022)

On October 6, 2022 at 4:00 am Ron joined his parents who were waiting for him on the other shore.  Ron passed away on his own terms after only hours in the hospital.  He was the only son of Duncan Currie Kinahan and Helen Kinahan (nee Humphries), and he was the brother of Molly, Coleen and Mary.

Beloved husband and best friend of Lorene Kinahan (nee Shewfelt) and much loved Step-Dad, Papa “POPS”, of the Corbett family, Laurie, Robin, Peter, Melinda, Paul and their spouses.  Papa Ron was dearly loved by his grandchildren, their spouses and his great-grandchildren.

Ron had a very full life - his cars, playing baseball, years of hockey with the Last Chance Hockey Club (#10) including their trip together to play hockey in Japan.  He loved golf and played for many years which included his annual winter golf trips to Florida and he was proud of his 2 eagles and 2 holes in one.  He spent most of his working years in computer services at ASC.  Ron remembers his old friends and would often talk about all the good times and he enjoyed seeing them and hearing about them.

Ron often reminisced about growing up in Desbarats and attending high school in Bruce Mines, and his roots in Rydal Bank.  He enjoyed day trips on the back roads, pointing out places he knew and visiting the cemeteries.  He often talked about his grandparents, his aunts, uncles and summers spent enjoying his cousins when he was young.

Ron was a loyal Greyhound fan, always enjoying the fellowship at the games and going on the bus trips.  He loved to discuss the early days of the team, all the old players and where they ended up.  He was a die-hard Blue Jays and Maple Leaf fan and loved his “discussions” with his son-in-law who was a staunch Montreal Canadiens fan.  He loved it when some of the kids would be here to watch the games with us.

Ron liked to say that the accomplishment he was most proud of was being a parent, grandparent and great grandparent, he was always so anxious to meet and hold the newest arrival.  He was a very loving man and his trademark hugs will be missed by all.

Ron appreciated his care by Dr. Phil Catania (retired) and Dr. Marianne Beduhn.

At Ron’s request a private good-bye was held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel and a graveside service followed with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating.  He was laid to rest in the Corbett family plot.  Pallbearers were his children and grandchildren.

Thank-you to the Arthur Funeral Home for helping Ron’s family team to honour him in our special way.

If you wish to make a donation in his memory, it was his wish that you make it to a charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Kinahan family.
