Passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour at the Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the age of 87 with his wife, family and friends by his side.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth Anne. Cherished father of Susanne Anderson (Dean). Loving grandfather of Joel and Cadence. Older brother to Paul Kars (Darlene) and younger brother to the late Rev. Gunnar Kars (late Barbara). Remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elmer was sober minded, honest, tenacious and a hard working entrepreneur. He was the owner of Catalina Motel, a Christian radio broadcaster of Good Sounds (WYSS) and a pro bono photographer for Algoma Central Railway and Tourism Sault Ste. Marie. He took the iconic Montreal River Trestle and Canyon photographs, which made its way into National Geographic Travel Magazine. 

Family and friends are invited to visit at Elim Pentecostal Church (306 McNabb Street) on Tuesday November 12, 2024 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Rev. Keith Neal officiating. Elmer will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to Algoma Pregnancy Centre, Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle or A.R.C.H. would be appreciated.
