Lillian Alberta Hurley of Echo Bay in her 85th year was promoted to glory on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Beloved Wife of Melvin for 65 years.
 
Daughter of the late Duncan MacFarlane of Scotland and Emily MacFarlane (nee Spence) of Mactier, Ontario. Daughter-in-law of the late Fred and Elizabeth Hurley (Nee Mason) of Echo Bay, Ontario. She will be greatly missed by her children Fred (Lori), Raymond (Susan), Dawn Shivrattan (Lloyd), Sandra Hodgson (Cliff) and Ken (Tammy). Much loved Nana of Robin Stockton (Steve), Rick Mick (Cindy), Rob Hurley (Mariah), Ryan Hurley (Maggie), Brandon Hurley (Carrie), Melinda Lamming (Devin), David Carter (Adam), Rena Gloudie (Paul), Holly Kramer (Shawn), Caleb Shivrattan, Dana Hodgson, Denyse Bordeleau (David), Jeremy Hodgson (Samantha), Jesse Hodgson (Santana), Lexi Hurley and Logan Hurley. Great Nana of 30 and Great-great Nana of 10. Sister of the late Catherine Porter (late Les), late Nancy Morrison (late Fred), late Donna Meany (late Don), late Edna Plancon (late Paul), Shirley MacFarlane, late Mary Lynne McCulloch (Gordon). Sister-in-law of the late Kathleen Gibb (late Bob). Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
 
Her grandchildren meant the world to her. In their own words they lovingly thought of her as generous, happy, caring, compassionate, quirky, joyful, kind hearted, funny, crafty, musical, loud, giving, sweet, strong, prayer warrior, a viking, spicy, passionate, bold and the life of the party. We will always love and miss you Nana.
 
In keeping with Lillian's wishes there will be a graveside service at Maple Leaf Cemetery, 260 Maple Leaf Road West, in Echo Bay, Ontario on Saturday October 7, 2023 at 11:00 am.
 
We encourage everyone to celebrate Lillian's life by thinking of her well and often, knowing that although she may not have seen you recently, you were often in her thoughts and prayers. Memorial donation (payable by cheque or online) to Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. The Family would like to thank the first responders, the doctors and nurses of the third floor of the Sault Ste. Marie Hospital and the Unity Health Hospital (St. Michaels) of Toronto for the attentive and compassionate care they provided. Also a thank you to her two PSWs Mavis and Danielle.
