Surrounded by his loving wife and family, Dick passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2018.  Dick was married to Catharina Huibers (nee Nan) for 57 years. Together they had four children: Theresa Glover, late Richard Huibers (late Karen), Brenda Huibers and Betty Germanili (Carlo).  They have four grandchildren: Amy and Dana Germanili and Laura and Daniel Glover.  Amy and Dana were the joys in his life and they will greatly miss playing games and cards with their kind and gentle Opa.  Dick came from a family of 11 in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1954.  He worked at Algoma Steel for 35 years as a crane operator, where he was known as "Dutchie" to his friends.  He was most happy digging in his garden, enjoying family gatherings and travelling with his wife.  Special thanks to the staff at A.R.C.H. for providing the most loving care. Thank you to CCAC for all the support and materials to allow our family to stay together at our family home for as long as possible.  Thanks to the CDI workers who came to the home and cared for Dick with dignity and compassion.  As per Dick's wishes, family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral mass on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Precious Blood Cathedral at 11 am.  The Rev. Kumar Kanagaraj officiating.  Memorial contributions to Algoma Residential Community Hospice (A.R.C.H.) would be greatly appreciated.  (Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel 492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522).

"My garden is a haven from a world of weary care.

There is always utter freedom and sweet contentment there."
