Passed away peacefully at the FJ Davey Home on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of the late Gertrude Elizabeth (Betty) and the late Jeanne Horbatuk. Loving father of Steven Horbatuk (Alison) of Sault Ste. Marie, Elizabeth Horbatuk of Guelph, James Horbatuk (Mary Jane) and Robert Horbatuk all of Sault Ste. Marie. Proud grandfather of Shawn and Carrie Horbatuk, Tianna and Tanner Rutland, Matthew, Meaghan and Jeffrey Horbatuk and Andrew Horbatuk. His career began in the food industry shortly after completing high school. Bill worked at his parent’s grocery store at Northland Road prior to accepting a sales position at Canada Packers. He entered into the real estate profession in the 1960’s and eventually into the insurance field shortly thereafter. He became the managing partner at Algoma Insurance Brokers Limited, and led the company to becoming the largest brokerage in Sault Ste. Marie until his retirement in 1993. He was a respected individual at home and in the business community. Bill enjoyed his sporting activities which included basketball, volleyball and racket ball at the YMCA. He also had a love for bowling. His pets played a big part in his life, with his dog Taruk, being the biggest character of them all. He fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
