Passed away peacefully at the Ontario Finnish Rest Home on Sunday, November 10, 2024 in her 99th year.

Loving wife of the late Clarence Holmberg (2014). Loving mother of Donna Ward (John), Riley Shoust (Fred), Karen Mizzi (Len) and Kevin Holmberg (late Jessica). Cherished grandmother of Adam Ward (Amanda), Alexandra Ward (Mike Beauvais), Andrea Shoust, Nicholas Shoust (Kassi), and David Holmberg (Carly). GG to Hudson Ward and Benjamin Beauvais. Predeceased by her parents Olive Cobb Bussineau and Magloire (Mac) Bussineau and her sister Edna Boileau. 

Doreen graduated from the Plummer School of Nursing in 1948. She was an active nurse in Sault Ste. Marie for many years. Later in her career she worked for the Department of Social and Family Services, for the City of Sault Ste. Marie until her retirement in 1988. In their retirement years, Doreen and Clarence embraced travel, spending their winters together in Englewood, Florida where they enjoyed a very active social life, and summers at their home on St. Joseph Island. 

She was an exceptionally talented artist who excelled in every craft she tried, Doreen filled the homes of her family with beautiful paintings, quilts, and other special gifts she created over the years. An avid reader, Doreen loved to sit outside with a book, enjoying nature and listening to the birds chirp. 

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all of the staff at Ontario Finnish Rest Home - MKK for their care and support. 

As per Doreen's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family Service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522). A memorial contribution (payable by cheque or online) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
