HILL, Edna Ruth (nee Young)
February 1, 1929 – August 26, 2023
Passed away quietly, at the Algoma Manor, age 94. Wife of the late Donald Hill (2004) of Iron Bridge. Mother of Sandra Cox (John), Karen Wheeldon (late Robert), Maureen Hill, Dianne Sonier (late Delbert), Cheryl Shaus (Roger), Denise Davey (Fred), Elaine Grant (late Mike), Richard Hill, Armand Hill, Ken Hill (Pam) and Shawn Hill (Cookie). Grandmother of 15, great and great great grandmother of many. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Edna Young (nee Gilroy) and siblings Margaret Green, Dorothea Allan, Walter Young, Ida Young, Viola Everett, Celia Burnside and Edith Young.
Ruth was born and raised on Peoples Road in Sault Ste. Marie. She moved to Southern Ontario where she met her future husband, Donald. They were married for 57 years and raised 11 children. They lived in Sault Ste. Marie, Acton and Lucknow before eventually settling in Iron Bridge. Primary income was farming. Along the way they raised their family.
Family time, gardening, reading and doing puzzles were her favorite pastimes. She loved being home, tending to farm activities, and preparing large family meals.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Algoma Manor for their great care of Mom.

Resting at Beggs Funeral Home, 175 Main Street, Thessalon, on Monday, August 28, 2023, between 6pm and 9pm. Family and friends are invited to visit. Light luncheon served.
