July 21, 1957 – January 2, 2022 - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our precious brother, Gary (“Harv”) at the age of 64.

Gary means Mighty Warrior.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course... II Timothy 4:7 K.J.V.

Son of the late Henry and Vivian Harvey.  He leaves behind, a son, Dallas and his family, of Thunder Bay, ON.

Brother to Wendy Ouellette (Georges) of Mildmay, ON, brother to Barb Gibney (Rocky) of Drake, SK. and brother to Pamela Harvey of Salt Spring Island, BC.   Uncle to Michelle and Georges; Rob, Jennifer and Tammy; Shane and Alysha.  Great Uncle to Keith and Savannah; Alexa, Emma and Megan; Raynah, Kenna and Lacey; Carly and Olivia; Kayd and Kohen; Dre and Ayejah-Lynn; and Syd.  He leaves behind many very close aunts, uncles and cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Although small in stature, Gary had an enormous heart and had a smile for everyone he met.
He did not own much of the what many people think is necessary but if you asked him what was important, without a doubt he would say his treasured possessions were his family.  Being with family is what made him the happiest and that was what always made him smile (besides having a smoke and coffee).

Among the hundreds of family photos in his room was a list of telephone numbers of his family. When taken on outings, many times strangers (to us) would smile and say, “Hello Gary”. Gary would smile back and say “Hello”. If you slighted or hurt him today he would not remember it tomorrow, so he went about in his world with no enemies. He lived in the moment and I think the world needs a lot more “Gary’s”.

Special thanks to the staff at Extendicare Mapleview in Sault Ste Marie. All of you from the front desk to the screening staff, maintenance to housekeeping and laundry; cafeteria to activities; physio to PSW’s; all the nurses and doctors and caregivers on Lake Superior Wing.

We would also like to extend a big thank you to the Dubreuil family for endless visits, outings and caregiving.

During these very trying times you were his family, you were there when we couldn’t be and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

As per the family’s wishes and due to Covid, a private family service will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to Extendicare Maple View Resident’s Council would be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E 705-759-2522).

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Harvey family.

Wendy, Barb, and Pam
