HARTL, Roman

At the FJ Davey Home on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the age of 95.  Roman was a native of Upper Austria, where many Hartls remain living in the town of Feldkirchen.  While serving with the German Army in the Russian campaign, his unit narrowly escaped encirclement at Stalingrad.  He emigrated to Canada after the war and made Sault Ste. Marie his home.  He worked in the construction field as an expert carpenter, building houses for the late Horst Schneider.  At Roman's request, his cremated remains will be returned to his native Austria.  Bestattung Thalhammer, Weingasse 10, 4101 Feldkirchen.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522).
