Peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice, with her family by her side and her eldest daughter Christena singing softly in her ear, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the age of 92.

Beloved wife of the late William Harrison. Loving mother of Ross Harrison (Evelyn), Christena Laitinen (Matti), Bonnie Radford (George) and Janet Ann Bilodeau (Rheal). Proud Grandma of Lee-Ann (Ryan), Kevin, Maija (James), Anja (Greg), Sherri (Jaime), Adam (Mat), Renee and the late Jay, Michael (Candace) and the late Joni. Great grandmother of Ashleigh (Spencer), Zachary, Ellen, Grace, Lucy, Oliver, Anna, Charlie, Rachel, Connor, Sadie and Tyson. Ellen is predeceased by her siblings Marion (late Gordon), Leonard, Forest (late Doris), Annie (late Fred), Janet (late Art), Evelyn (late Earl), Howard (June), Murray (Wilma), Donald (late Francine) and Lila. Ellen will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Ellen's grandchildren were a great joy in her as she said many times they were "all precious".  She spoiled them with homemade bread, cinnamon buns, preserves and cookies galore.  They will never forget their trips to the pea patch, berry picking, the farm and other adventures on St. Joseph Island.

Ellen was a proud nurse at the "old General Hospital" for 26 years, we have been told by coworkers that when they came on shift and saw that Ellen was working, they knew that they would have a good shift.  Hardworking, strong, quiet, and humble, she took care of her patients without complaint and was always willing to help others.  She remained friends with her co-workers over the years since her retirement in 1993, planning regular lunches.

Ellen spent her life in her church community at East Korah Maxwell United Church. Over the years she was a steadfast member who volunteered for fundraising events including baking, cooking, serving and knitting.  Ellen was an expert quilter and worked on her last quilt in July with her dear friends Barb, June and many more over the years.

Above all, Ellen was a gentle and kind woman who cared deeply for her family, her friends and for anyone she thought needed her help.

We will forever remember her beautiful blue eyes, her playfulness and humour, her smile and her GREAT LOVE for all of us.

Friends may visit the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522) on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 10:30 am until time of service in the chapel at 1 pm. Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Interment Richards Landing Cemetery. Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to East Korah Maxwell United Church or ARCH would be appreciated by the family.
