Ensio Henrik Hamalainen passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Algoma Residential Community Hospice on February 15, 2023. Ensio was born in Sortavala, Finland on August 19, 1933.
He will be missed by his wife Tuula, his son Jani (wife Annemieke) daughter Nina (husband Ryan), his grandchildren Callen and Kainan, his brothers Erkki and Eelis (wife Inger), brother-in-law Markku Saariniemi (wife Anne), as well as many nieces and nephews in Finland and Sweden.
He was predeceased by his parents Viljam and Anni Hamalainen and his siblings Aira, Enok (wife Aili), Martti (wife Marja-Liisa), Pertti, Aili (wife Martti) and his brother-in-law Tapio Saariniemi.
The family would like to thank Dr. Crawford, Dr. Hill, Dr. Buehner, Dr. Sharpe, the SAH staff at 3C, the staff of ARCH, and North Shore Home Care staff Amy, Jessica, Jenny, and Kim for all their excellent care, compassion, and support.
A private service will be held at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church officiated by Mr. Paul Patteri. Memorial donations can be made to the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church (payable by cheque).
