HALUCHA, Jozefa (Josephine)

Posted

Succumbed to cancer after a hard battle, on Thursday,
July 28, 2005 in her 79th year. Cherished wife of the late Jan Halucha and beloved
mother of John (Janine), Kristine Stinnissen (Peter) and Barbara-Anne Nedeau
(Stephen). Dear Babcia of Paul, Stephen, Michael, Jay, Peter, Rachel, Sophie,
Christopher and Cameron. Precious Great-grandmother of Meghan and Sophie. Born
Jozefa Jurek in a small village in southern Poland, she was pressed into service on
a German farm in the Second World War when she was a teenager. After the war
ended, she emigrated to Canada, where she met and married Jan in 1950. The young
couple moved to Wawa to raise their family, then to Sault Ste. Marie after Jan
retired. Jozefa was a dedicated parishioner of St. Andrew Bobola Church, where she
was a proud member of the choir. Her culinary masterpieces, especially pierogi and
golabki, were unsurpassed. An avid gardener to the end, she never ceased to amaze
family, friends and neighbours with her green thumb. Her love, generosity and wise
counsel will be missed, and ever treasured in memory. Friends may call at the
Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Monday evening from 7
pm to 9 pm. Prayer vigil will be held at 8 pm. Funeral mass at St. Andrew Bobola
Church on Tuesday August 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ron Ambeault
officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations made to the
Sault Area Hospital Oncology Unit or St. Andrew Bobola Church would be appreciated
by the family.
