Betty Ann Hache (Bourassa/Burnell) age 74 years resident of Hogarth Riverview Manor, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 14, 2022.  Betty was born in AllanWater, ON on May 8, 1948, living most of her childhood in Ycliff, ON and continued living in various railroad communities with her husband and children into the mid 1980’s.

A proud mother of Mark, Tiami, Jodey and Kevin and many animals in her lifetime,  Mom shared her love of everything outdoors and compassion for all of God’s creatures.  Mom was her best when she was outdoors, close to water with her dog at her side.   In our early years  Mom worked hard to be a good mother: taking care of four active children, organizing, meal planning everyday and more so, with our family constantly travelling and camping.  She could do it all.  Mom ensured we always had a beautiful home cooked meal and home made cookies for everyone. To this day, neighbours and friends talk about Mom teaching them to cut hair, sew clothes and MacGyver anything that needed an immediate fix. She worked hard and was proud of it.

Once Mom felt the kids were independent enough, she embarked on a career change from home daycare and grocery store clerk to start a job with highway construction.  Mom was a very proud member of I.U.O.E. Local 793. After years of operating a rubber tire packer, she worked as a scale operated until her retirement at 60.

Betty Ann is survived by her children Mark (Stacie) Burnell, Tiami (John) Connor, Jodey (Shawn Capnerhurst) Burnell and Kevin (Michelle Kostick) Burnell as well as the Hache/Melcher family in Sault Ste. Marie.  She leaves behind grandchildren: Sheldon, Zoya, Kurtis, Zane, Jarod, Donald, Thomas, Michael, Bradley, Kyle, Aldan, Peyton, Carrie Ann and Alyssa.  She is survived by her siblings Art (Donna), Delores (Andy), Kimberly and Russell (Shelley). She was predeceased by her husband Gerald Hache (2021), her first husband Buster Burnell (1999), father Arthur Bourassa (1964), Mother Nelda Bourassa (2004)and brother Garren Bourassa (2014).

A special thank you for all the staff on the 3rd Floor of Bethammi Nursing Home who took exceptional care of Mom over the past 4 years and encouraged her to participate in resident council.  You helped manage the “Unofficial” Health & Safety Rep’s behaviour and kept her calm when she was raising hell! Thank you to Daffodil Resident staff (1N) at Hogarth Riverview Manor for these last months with Mom and making her transition easier.

Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering to celebrate Mom’s life will occur shortly.

If desired, in lieu of flowers a donation can be made in honour of Mom to the Alzheimer’s Society of Thunder Bay or a Dog Rescue Organization of your choice.
