December 7, 1945 - February 26, 2023
Beloved daughter of the late Jim and Annie Granger, Gloria passed peacefully at home with her son Lonny by her bedside. Predeceased by her partner of 20+ years Robert Benson and by her brothers Rod (Anna) and Bill. Survived by her brothers Blake (Bunny) and Grant (late Fern) and by her sister-in-law Susan Kleiber (Horst). She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Tammy Grexton (Terry), Curtis Granger (Susan), Nichole McDonald (Kendall), Chad Granger (Christina), and Chad Laroue (Kerrilyn). She will be especially missed by her goddaughters Janet Schrum (David Hughes) and Christine Schrum.
Gloria graduated as a Registered Nurse from Plummer Memorial Public Hospital School of Nursing in 1966 and worked in the labour and delivery departments at the Plummer and General Hospitals until her retirement in 2001. She could not have imagined a more rewarding career for herself than to have assisted in so many births. In her retirement, Gloria became a devoted rescuer of stray and feral cats. It was her great joy to reunite lost pets with anxious owners and, as was more often the case, to find loving homes for those without one.
Thank you to Dr. Buehner, Dr. O'Brien, and nurses Holly Febrarro, Allissia Frolich, Lisa Rowlinson, and Tammy See, who gave her the attention and assurance she needed in her last months.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Memorial donations to The Animal Assistance Group would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be sent to [email protected] or through CanadaHelps at canadahelps.org/en/charities/animal-assistance-group/.
