Gardi
Elda passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 in Sault Ste Marie at the age of 94.  Elda was married to the late Victor Gardi Sr. for 51 years.  Elda was a loving Mother to her late son Victor Gardi Jr., and great friend and Mother-in-law to Gisella Gardi.  “Nan” will be sorely missed by her Grandsons Corey Gardi (Krista), and Cale Gardi (Paula).  Elda had the joy of being a Great Grandmother to Santana Gardi, who affectionately referred to her as “Big Nana”. Elda was lucky to be born into a large, loving family.  Her parents were Angelo and Onorina Pozzo. Elda was a compassionate and dedicated sister to her late siblings Olympia Gover (Romano), Giovanni Pozzo, Peter Pozzo (Jean), Guido Pozzo (Elizabeth), Hector Pozzo (Jean), Enes Pozzo, and Elio Pozzo (Josette).  Elda’s spirit will live on with her elder sister Emma Verdeccia (Gino). Elda and her husband Victor were blessed to have many close friends.  Frequent nights of playing cards and bocce, nights out and travel helped to forge these close bonds.  She was an active member of the Elettra Marconi Society for many years. Elda had several nieces and nephews on both the Gardi and Pozzo sides of the family, whom she loved very much.  Elda was a devoted daughter-in-law to Eugene and Angelina Gardi. Her sisters-in-law included Teresa D’Orazio (Arthur), Dora Orlando (Pan), and Eda (John) Mandolesi. Elda consistently put those she loved ahead of herself.  She took great pride in being a Home Maker.  Elda had exceptional culinary skills, which resulted in wonderful meals and baking for her friends and family to enjoy.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and working with ceramics. A private family service was held. The family would like to thank the many PSW workers and Nurses who supported In-Home Care, especially Nurse Brandie. Memorial Donations to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
