Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday July 15th, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Wife of Francesco ‘Frank’ Gagliardi. Mother of Laura (Andrew) and Stephen (Tara). Loving Gramma of Emma and Elizabeth and Nonna of Owen. She will be missed by her many brothers and sisters in law and other close family and friends. Daughter of the late Lauretta and Giuseppe Greco and daughter in law of the late Teresa and Antonio Gagliardi.
She was born in Italy and immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie at the age of 7. She lived a full 76 years with so much love for her family. Lucy married Frank in 1967, making it 57 years married next week. They loved each other deeply and were together right to the end. They were each other's comfort and support. Her legacy is her kids and grandkids, who she loved dearly. She was a devoted grandmother, never missing a recital, performance or graduation.
Lucy had a passion and talent for painting, scattering her home with her beautiful artwork which we will always cherish. She was known for her witty humour, love of food and good company. Making sure that you were fed, had enough to eat and that you left with enough leftovers to feed you for days. The kitchen and dinner table will never be the same.
A private service was held for family and close friends on Friday, July 19th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you make a donation to the Alzheimer Society Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District (payable online https://alzheimer.ca/algoma/en or by cheque) in her memory.
Thank you to the Sault Area Hospital ER staff, nurses and doctors in 3B and the ICU, who cared for Lucy during her stay and showed us kindness and compassion.
