FORBES, Grace Plewes (nee Springsteele)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Grace on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the age of 91. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Ron. Cherished mother of Tom (Joan), Jim (Cindy) and Bruce (Leanne). Proud grandmother of Kaleigh (Trevor), Angie, Tyler (Meghan), Aaron (Jen) and Sean (Julie) and great grandmother of Hayden, Farrah, Harmony, Pierce and Melody. Predeceased by her parents Martin and Georgina Springsteele, grandchildren Amanda and Scott and her siblings James (Lois), Isabelle (Robert) and Mary (George). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Grace was born on July 1, 1932, delivered by her grandmother at her family farm in Devlin, Ontario. She moved to Sault Ste. Marie at the young age of eight. Where she and Ron met and became high school sweethearts. On August 24, 1951 they were married at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Grace and Ron spent over 70 years of marriage together, before his passing in 2021. She enjoyed spending time with her family, walking in the outdoors, gardening and her time at Horseshoe Bay and St. Joseph Island.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Ron and Grace’s life at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association – MKK (OFRA-MKK) or the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie would be appreciated by the family. A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Mauno Kaihla Koti for the wonderful care and compassion of Grace during her stay.
