ERSCHEN, Josef

Josef passed away peacefully on November 24, 2018, 93 years young, with polka music in the background. Survived by his wife Stanka, his children Sonja (Jeff), Miriam, David (Marcia) & Vanja (Conrad), grandchildren Lauren (Micah), Lance, Amanda (Ryan), Keirstyn (Mike), Megan (Kyle), Mitchell (Sylvia), Justin, Vanessa (Adam) & great grandchildren Riley, Jodyce & Zayn. Josef was happy to start a new life & immigrate from Slovenia to Canada after World War II. 
He married the love of his life, Stanka, in November 1959. He was a hard working family man. Josef began working at CJIC, then Soo Family Photo, then began his own painting business (Josef's painting).  Many may know him as 'Joe the painter'
He loved nature & being outdoors. This summer he enjoyed the sunshine from his patio. Josef was a very devoted husband in taking care of his wife. Even after her stroke, he tenderly cared for her needs. He said, "This is my responsibility". 
He loved listening to polka music while tapping his feet. Many thanks to all those that helped take care of Josef at Sault Area Hospital, FJ Davey Home & all the caregivers that came to his home.  A private family memorial service will take place. Memorial donations in Josef’s name may be made to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation.
