December 7, 1931 - December 14, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Enrichetta “Enrica” Maria Durat on a quiet Saturday morning. After several days of stormy, snowy weather, the evening brought a star-filled, calm, peaceful sky.
Enrica grew up among the great mountains of Northern Italy in Friuli. The girl with the long, dark, thick braids married the love of her life Giovanni “John” Durat. They eventually emigrated to Canada, and the rest is history.
Enrica will always be an inspiration to her daughters Vetta Lawrence, Gabriella Brescacin and Loretta Durat. She adored her sons in-law, the late Brian Lawrence and Ben Brescacin like her own sons, and they loved her immensely.
Enrica had many strengths and interests, but the most important thing in her life was family, and she was especially proud of the children. Always in her heart and mind were her grandchildren Jessica (Brett), Jonathan (Cassandra), Katie (Mica), Adriano (Deniz) and Christopher (Lauren). Already a proud Nonna, she was elated to become Bisnonna to Sloane. Even the kids she babysat were like her own.
She will be remembered by her beloved sister Elda Minin (Giovanni) and sister-in-law Gina Mio. Greeted in heaven by sister-in-law Pierina Durat (Ermes Ferroli) and brothers-in-law Marino Durat (Pina) and Silvio Mio. Zia to many nieces and nephews.
We cannot begin to express how much we will miss her big smile, her warm greetings and words of encouragement. We cannot begin to tell you how strong she was. Simply our Hero.
