It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of Yola DiPietro. Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She left us peacefully in the night of Friday, August 13th at the age of 88.

Born in 1933 in Pretoro, Province of Chieti, Italy, Yola lived a very colourful life. She immigrated to Canada in 1950, where she married Frank and settled in Sault Ste Marie.

She was the beloved wife to Frank, mother of Rosetta Theriault (Gene Paul), Rocky DiPietro (Patty) and Angela Hiddleston (Tom). Grandmother to Chantal Persaud (Sam), Jean-Paul Theriault (Christy), Jesse Hiddleston (Chelsey), Joseph DiPietro (Krista), Taylor Hiddleston (Heather), and Daniel DiPietro. Mamma Pietro to Averie, Elijah, Mason and Nola. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Angela DiSipio and her siblings Maria D’Angelo (late Tony), Adine MarcAntonio (late Domenico), Lea DiMuzio (late Gino), Nicola DiSipio (Imelda).  Dear sister-in-law of Nicolene DiPietro (Carmel) and Joe DiPietro (late Anna).

Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Yola’s passion was always taking care of her family. She always made sure everyone was well fed, cared for, and loved. She was a devout Catholic and attended Mass weekly at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.

We will miss her dearly.

The family wishes to send a special thank-you to Extendicare Maple View, Goulais Bay wing, especially Susan, Brandi, Tara, Nancy and Kari for their kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to our mother. To Yola, you were like her second family and she held you all in a special place in her heart. Also, thank-you to all the staff at Sault Area Hospital on 3A and 3C and to Dr. Haider and Dr. Booth for the extraordinary level of care and compassion during Yola’s final days.
