It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of John DiMichele on January 26, 2025, at the age of 70.

John is survived by his loving wife Elaine of 49 years. A proud and dedicated dad to his children Cheryl Esposito (Mike) and John DiMichele (Kara). The best Papa to his grandchildren Kylie & Drew Esposito and JJ & Isabella DiMichele and his cat, Charlie. Predeceased by his parents, Teresa and Joe, and his brother, Frank. Favourite uncle to Joe. He will be greatly missed by many other nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and lifelong friends.

Anyone who knew Johnny knew how meticulously he cared for everything he owned. His love for cars was unmatched, and he took pride in keeping his vehicles in pristine condition, earning countless awards at car shows. At home, Johnny brought that same attention to detail to his beautiful backyard, complete with a flower garden and his tomato plant – offering a fresh tomato to anyone who stopped by.

John worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator at Algoma Steel, where he was respected for his skill and hard work. Outside of work, he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: his morning coffee and breakfasts with the boys, league bowling nights, and endless conversations about football and hockey.

Above all, Johnny was a devoted family man. He was his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, never missing a single sporting event and always encouraging them to chase their dreams. His love and care for his wife, who is courageously battling cancer, were unconditional—together, they faced every challenge hand in hand. He was her rock, providing constant support, strength, and love through every difficulty she encountered, always by her side with encouragement and devotion. His family and friends knew they could always count on him for support, advice, or just a chat over coffee.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Sault Area Hospital emergency department staff and paramedics for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions made payable online or by cheque to A.R.C.H. would be greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Dimichele family.

Whether you needed advice about cars, a friendly conversation, or a cheering voice in the stands, John was always there. Rest in peace Papa, we love you and will miss you forever.
