Peter Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his home after a long fight with cancer. Son of the late Joseph and the late Myrtle DeCourcy, and husband of his late beloved wife, Susan Anne DeCourcy, Peter was born March 29, 1940 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Peter was very active in so many ways within the community of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, from playing John Johnson for the area history presentation, producing and directing plays, acting and contributing to sets construction, to being the MADRIGAL “SALT” PETER, in support of the local Hospice Fund Raiser.
He is survived by his children; Peter J. DeCourcy Jr. of Oakville, Ontario; and his late son, Hugh DeCourcy; Paul J. Marsh of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; Mary E. (John) Bowkus of Lansing , Michigan; Jonathan ( Connie) Marsh of Coldwater, Michigan; foster daughter, Lona B. Stewart of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Also survived by brothers Ed DeCourcy, Joe (Joy) DeCourcy and the late Bobby DeCourcy; and sisters Mary (Jim) Wilson and Susan Bock (late Rodney) all of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 PM, Sunday November 16, 2014 at the Christopher Columbus Hall, 201 Sheridan Dr., Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
