Suddenly at home, on Friday, July 2, 2021, with family by his side.

Don is now reunited with his devoted wife Dianne. Loving father of Kellie Alcock (Tom) and Michael Cuthbertson (Don Bishop). Caring grandpa of Ryan, Evan and Paige Alcock. Survived by his sister Barbara Beattie (late John), and predeceased by his brothers Johnny, Bobby and Ronald. Son of the late John and Helen (Nellie) Cuthbertson. Son-in-law of the late George and Connie Bossom.  Don will be missed by many friends and a large extended family; special mention goes to sister-in-law Nancy Bossom, who remained a constant source of support.

At Don's request cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to the West Parry Sound Health Centre would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E., Sault Ste. Marie, On 705-759-2522). To say Dad was a character would be an understatement.  Though he was small in stature, his personality was huge.  Dad was stubborn yet silly, frustrating yet funny, demanding yet dedicated.  He loved listening to his radio, watching movies (especially old westerns), and his life at the lake.  Though born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, he had always been drawn to cottage-country, and in his youth discovered his spiritual home - Georgian Bay.  Eventually, summers were spent visiting Wawanaisa Resort, near Parry Sound, and after retiring, Dad and Mom were lucky enough to establish a home near there.  It was their paradise; days were spent having coffee on the deck, watching the wildlife, and on good days, heading out in the boat to visit their favourite fishing spots.  Sadly, Mom passed in 2015. With his family living far away, Dad was blessed to have many kind neighbours and friends to watch over him.  They would drive him to town for errands and appointments, help around the cottage, and more importantly, kept him company.  For all of this, we dearly thank Peter and Dorte, Mike and Sarah, Ian and Ruth, Keith and Davis, John and Dianne, Sue, and the many others whose support enabled Dad to live alone for over 4 years.  Dad's heart truly broke when the time came that he had to leave his home.  We like to think that he enjoyed living with us this past year and a half, but we knew where he longed to be...

We know you're there now, Dad.  Your heart has been mended, and you can breathe easy again.  You're back where you belong, with Mom, sitting on the deck drinking coffee, boat loaded up, ready to go.  Now, the weather will always be perfect, the fish will always be biting, and you and Mom will be together, always.
