Marion passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, January 5th, 2023 at the age of 88.
She was raised at the Elliott Brickyard (now James Elliott Park) by her loving parents, the late Stanley and Ethel Elliott. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, David (2008). Much loved mother of Sheila (Larry Ricard), Laurie (Ken Green), Allison (late Mitch Dufour), and the late David (1989). Beloved grandmother of Alex Ricard, Tom Green (Rebecca), James Green, Chris Dufour (Caitlin), Julie Ricard, Carly Dufour (Jay and son Jordan), and Angela Dufour (Randy).
She was the treasured sister of Carol Dinsmore, Stan Elliott (Deb), Brian Elliott (Penny) and predeceased by Ron Elliott (Emily) and Shirley Lavoie (Ernie). Dear sister-in-law of Betty Elliott, Kay McMaster (late John), and predeceased by George Walker (Eileen), Matt Craig (Gwen), Bill Craig (Margaret), Pat Speer (Henry), and Margaret Craig. She is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews.
If Marion loved you, she loved you unconditionally. She was feisty and wouldn’t be afraid to tell you what she thought. Her door was always open for talks, laughs, or a good cry. She was brave and would act as the co-driver for her children and grandchildren but was hesitant to drive herself. She was a wonderful mother to her four children and proud grandmother of the “seven wonders of the world”.
Marion loved ladies lunches or dinner out, especially with her good friend Shirley T. (Turner). She’d rather have a Diet Pepsi than a pocket full of gold. She enjoyed community work such as The Shower of Love for neonatal intensive care, organizing teas and fundraising draws, or baking her famous cinnamon buns and fudge. She will be remembered for her endless generosity and kindness.
Marion’s favourite place was her camp at Haviland Bay where she spent her summers sitting at the shore watching her kids and grandkids swim and enjoyed many burnt hot dogs cooked over the bonfire.
A sincere thank you to all of the people that helped and cared for Marion through a complicated medical journey. She is finally at peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Memorial donations to the SickKids Foundation, the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. (705-759-2522).
