March 5, 1936 – Oct. 5 2024

Passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 5. Reunited now with the love of his life, the late Barbara Corcoran (nee Ervin). Son of the late Leonard and Estella Corcoran. Dear brother of Lynn Corcoran (late Roberta). Proud father of Phillip, the late Michael (Ellen) and Dale Corcoran (Clare). Beloved grandfather of Jason Brauer, Sarah Corcoran, Matthew, Car Corcoran (Chase) and the late Krista-Lin Corcoran. Great-grandfather of five. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, Bill left in his teens to join the Navy. He sailed around the world before returning to Canada. Living coast to coast, and serving in the air force until he and Barb decided to plant their roots in his hometown. Bill knew the Soo old and new, and he loved to discuss the businesses and architecture of the town he loved. He will be fondly remembered by his “John Street Family”, close neighbourhood friends who were with him until the end. Bill was a spectacular guy with a sharp wit that never left him. The family would like to express their gratitude to those who helped make the final years of his life memorable including Gerry Leblanc, Mike Beach, Bill Bennett, Vicki Bellerose, and nephew Harold Romo.

We would also like to thank those who cared for him in his final moments, the staff at Sault Area Hospital 3A and ICU, and the staff and volunteers at ARCH, especially PSW Barb and Chef Nate. Family and friends are invited to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 7-9 p.m.

Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to Algoma Residential Community Hospice or The Animal Assistance Group would be greatly appreciated by the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the family.
